About HeightCalculator.run

What is this website?

HeightCalculator.run is a free height-comparison and measurement site. It places known heights on the same ground line and scale and shows them with 3D figures side by side. Calculations run in the browser, and no account is required. A figure is scaled only to the height you enter; it does not reconstruct a face or body from a name. Two-person gaps, unit conversion, the parent-height formula, CDC and WHO growth references, photo estimates, dunk reach, and adult weight ranges each have their own page. They describe a gap or a reference position. They do not estimate how much more someone will grow.

Core features

  • Place up to 12 entries on one chart, rotate among front, side, and back views, and zoom or fit the whole lineup.
  • Measure everyone else against the baseline person, in centimeters or feet and inches.
  • Add celebrities, fictional characters, animals, landmarks, and everyday objects from the library; objects appear as schematic shapes.
  • Download the lineup as a light, dark, or transparent PNG, or share a link or QR code so someone else can edit a copy.
  • Convert units, compare two heights, estimate height from a photo reference, and calculate a jump from standing reach and rim height, all in the browser.
  • Growth references for children use CDC data for ages 2–20 or WHO length for ages 0–24 months. The parent-height formula is separate and does not predict adult height.

Common use cases

  • Couples or family members who want to see a side-by-side gap measure barefoot height, replace the sample names and numbers, and check who is taller.
  • When arranging characters or a fan comparison, add an athlete or fictional character from the library, and check the source and edition before citing it.
  • Teachers or creators explaining scale place an animal, landmark, or familiar object next to a person on the same scale, rather than treating the picture as an engineering measurement.
  • Parents enter both parents' heights for a family reference, then place a child's current height on the CDC curve for the same age, without writing that number down as adult height.
  • Someone preparing a lesson or a post downloads a PNG when a fixed image is needed; when the other person still needs to change a height, they send an editable share link or QR code.

Who is it for?

  • People who already have measured heights and want to see the visual gap between two people or a group.
  • Parents who want the family-height formula or CDC and WHO references, and who treat those numbers as not a diagnosis.
  • People who will check library heights themselves and use the chart as a creative reference.
  • Basketball players who have a measured standing reach and rim height and want the jump gap.
  • People who need bone-age assessment, a clinical growth evaluation, or an individual adult-height prediction are a poor fit. The site does not make those judgments.

How does it compare with similar tools?

Different pages answer different questions. To compare only two heights, the difference calculator shows the absolute gap, the ratio, and the relative percentage, and it can open the same heights in the 3D view. To see a group and reference objects on one ground line, use the homepage chart, which holds up to 12 entries.

Where a child's current measurement sits among same-age references is a percentile question. CDC covers height or weight for ages 2–20. The WHO length page covers recumbent length from birth to 24 months. The parent-height formula is separate: it uses only the parents' heights, adding 13 cm for boys or subtracting 13 cm for girls before dividing by two. The child's age and current height do not change that formula.

Photo estimates require the reference object and the person to lie in the same plane. Perspective limits the result, and the image stays in the browser. The dunk calculator uses measured standing reach and rim height. The default rim is 10 feet and can be changed to the actual rim. Centimeters of hand height above the rim are only an example; they do not mean a dunk will succeed. Country average height is the mean for an 18-year-old cohort born in 1996 and measured in 2014, not a current national census.

The adult weight page is for ages 20 and over. From height it shows the weight interval for BMI 18.5–24.9 and lists the Devine, Robinson, Miller, and Hamwi formulas separately. It is not a personal target weight.

Common questions

Q: Can HeightCalculator.run predict how tall a child will be as an adult?
A: No. The parent-height formula only produces a family reference: for boys, add 13 cm to the sum of the parents' heights and divide by two; for girls, subtract 13 cm instead. The CDC comparison only places the current measurement in a reference distribution. It is not an individual adult-height prediction.

Q: Are comparison data and photos uploaded to a server?
A: Public calculations run in the browser. A share link contains the names and heights you put in it, and anyone with the link can see them. Photos used for height estimates stay on the device and are not treated as an uploaded gallery. A lineup saved only in the browser disappears when that browsing data is cleared.

Q: Do these tools require an account or a payment?
A: No. The 3D comparison, PNG download, sharing, and the public calculators are free and do not require an account.

Q: Why are the 3D figures missing on some devices?
A: 3D rendering needs WebGL. Figures may not appear in an older browser or when hardware acceleration is off. Height still comes from the numbers you enter and from the shared scale. The models do not reproduce real body proportions.
